Here’s a simple recipe for crispy honey garlic chicken:
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the sauce:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Set up three shallow dishes. Place the flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and Panko breadcrumbs in the third.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with Panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Transfer the browned chicken breasts to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
- While the chicken is baking, make the honey garlic sauce. In a small saucepan, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, add the cornstarch mixture and stir until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the oven and brush each breast generously with the honey garlic sauce.
- Serve the crispy honey garlic chicken hot, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Enjoy your delicious meal!
