Apple dumplings are a delicious dessert made by wrapping apple slices in pastry and baking them with a sweet syrup. Here’s a basic recipe for making apple dumplings:
Ingredients:
- 2 to 3 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 package (2 sheets) of refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups water
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into 8-10 wedges per apple.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Place an apple wedge on the wide end of each triangle of dough, then roll it up, enclosing the apple. Arrange the rolled dumplings in a greased baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the apple dumplings in the baking dish.
- In the same saucepan, add 1 1/2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
- Carefully pour the boiling water over the dumplings.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes or until the dumplings are golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and let the dumplings cool slightly before serving.
Serve the apple dumplings warm, either on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat. Enjoy!
