his Hamburger Potato Casserole is a comforting, one-dish meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings. The tender layers of sliced potatoes are combined with savory ground beef and a creamy, cheesy sauce, creating a rich and satisfying dish.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cups potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup frozen peas (optional)
1 cup crushed cornflakes (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the meat is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat.
Prepare Potato Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
Layer Ingredients: In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Spread half of the meat mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the soup mixture. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, meat mixture, and soup mixture. If using peas, sprinkle them over the top layer.
Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Top with Cornflakes: If desired, sprinkle crushed cornflakes over the cheese for a crunchy topping.
Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
