Here’s a classic spaghetti recipe for you:
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (225 grams) spaghetti pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 ounces/400 grams) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook the spaghetti pasta according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water, and set aside.
- In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion and sautΓ© until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well. Add the dried oregano and basil, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss well to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce seems too thick, you can add some of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
- Once the spaghetti is coated in the sauce and heated through, remove from heat. Serve the spaghetti hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.
