Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) sausage meat (you can use store-bought or remove from sausage casings)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 package (14 oz / 400g) puff pastry, thawed
- Flour, for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Filling:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the onion and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes. Let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, mix the sausage meat, cooked onion and garlic, thyme, sage, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Prepare Pastry:
- Lightly flour your work surface. Roll out the puff pastry sheets to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut each sheet into rectangles, approximately 3 inches by 6 inches (7.5 cm by 15 cm).
- Assemble Rolls:
- Place a portion of the sausage mixture along one edge of each rectangle.
- Roll up the pastry around the filling, sealing the edges by pressing them together. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Apply Egg Wash:
- Brush the top of each roll with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
- Serve:
- Let the sausage rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!
Feel free to dip them in your favorite sauces or serve them with a side of mustard for extra flavor.
